Customer Care during Coronavirus & Post-Brexit

Shipping Fees

Due to a large increase in supply chain, courier and labour costs as a result of Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic we unfortunately have had to make the difficult decision to increase our shipping fees for the time being, as we are no longer able to absorb these costs as a business. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause our customers. Please be assured that we are working extremely hard to secure contracts with suppliers and courier partners that will hopefully enable us to reduce these fees as much as possible in the near future. We very much appreciate your patience and understanding with this matter, and thank you for your custom and support.

We currently have good stocks of most herbs and products. However, things are taking a little longer to ship at the moment due to a variety of factors such as:

  • Coronavirus restrictions in the workplace meaning reduced staff

  • The impact of the Coronavirus on our supply chain and customs

  • The impact of Brexit on our supply chain and operations

  • Our need to prioritise hundreds of vulnerable patients reliant on prescriptions

  • Many of our dispensary products are bespoke and made to order

Our relatively small but wonderful team are doing the very best they can under such tricky circumstances to continue to deliver our services to our usual high standards while remaining safe. We hope to dispatch orders in 3 to 7 working days and much sooner where we can, however some delays may be unavoidable and we really appreciate your patience and understanding.

We have had to put some exceptional business measures in place to help manage during these difficult times caused by the Coronavirus pandemic. This is so that we can continue to supply all our patients with the medicines that they need. We appreciate that this is a worrying time and are doing everything that we can to keep everyone well and happy. We apologise in advance for anything less than our usual high standards of service, but we are all under pressure.

If you are a patient and in receipt of a herbal prescription under the guidance of one of our herbalists, we appreciate if you are able to anticipate your prescription needs and consider allowing a little more time when reordering any repeat prescriptions to avoid delays and being in a situation where you have run out. We will of course try our very best to support you and turn your order around as quickly as possible, but this may still be slightly longer than usual time frames. It is very important to make sure you order enough of your medicine to make sure you do not run out over the Christmas and New Year period when we will be closed or operating with greatly reduced staff.

International Orders Affected by Service Suspensions

Orders placed for delivery to any countries that have currently suspended services will be automatically refunded. Please click here to the Royal Mail's International Incident Bulletin to check your country's shipping/delivery status before placing your order. Unfortunately, this is outwith our control.

Stock situation

Like all other herbalists, we initially had an unusually high amount of orders due to panic buying. This put pressure on stocks, suppliers and growers. Unfortunately this has pushed the price of many herbs up. However, at the moment stock is good for most herbs. We do not currently expect any permanent shortages of herbs. 

We kindly request that you order only what you need. We reserve the right to limit bulk buying especially of litres of individual herbs. This will help us to manage supply of herbs fairly.

With regard to items stocked, please remember that everything we do is bespoke from our dispensary. We are not a large supplement company that has stock items just sitting on shelves in a warehouse. This is why we cannot instantly show what is 'in stock'. So if something is out of stock temporarily, we will endeavour to let you know as quickly as possible and please be patient.

Please be aware that as of 1st January 2021, due to a change in regulations post-Brexit, many of our cosmetic products will no longer be available to EU customers. Please see individual product pages to identify whether this restriction applies. We apologise sincerely for any inconvenience this may cause.


We cannot currently accept backorders. If an item in your order is not in stock, or arriving in the next 2 days, we will send you those items that we do have and refund those we don’t. You are then best to wait a week and reorder the missing items unless you have subsequently found them elsewhere.

Order delays

Unless you have a prescription, you may currently have to wait longer than our usual 2 to 3 days for delivery.
This is entirely dependent on which herbs you have ordered and us keeping our dispensers free from infections.
At the moment, the lead-time is averaging 3 to 7 working days. 

Patient priority

For those not familiar with Napiers, we are not a supplement company. We have qualified herbalists and other healthcare practitioners working in three Scottish clinics who consult with patients on a daily basis. Each patient is then given a bespoke prescription. We do not want our current patients to go without their medicines. So we are prioritising patient prescriptions over internet orders. We have also stopped selling some herbs that have a long lead-time for restocking, except to registered patients.

We are experiencing extremely high call volumes and emails. We are a small team and can only assign one person to reply to enquiries as everyone else is busy dispensing and preparing parcels for dispatch. Please be patient and email our help desk rather than leaving voice messages so that our patients can still get through for consultations. All consultations with your herbalist or nutritional therapist will take place via WhatsApp, FaceTime, Skype or telephone (UK only) and not face-to-face. This is to minimise the risk of infection to both the practitioner and the patient.
