About Thanos
Thanos is a qualified Medical Herbalist with a BSc (Hons) from the University of Westminster and 14 years of clinical experience. Previously based at Napiers in Edinburgh, he now practises remotely from Greece, offering online herbal medicine consultations.
Thanos has a particular interest in supporting people with long-term and complex health conditions, including Lyme disease, Long Covid, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS). He also has experience working with stress, skin conditions, and menopause.
Approach
Thanos takes a holistic, individualised approach to herbal medicine, considering each patient's health history, lifestyle, and overall wellbeing when developing personalised treatment plans.
Alongside his herbal medicine qualifications, Thanos has trained and practised as an Orthopaedic Acupuncturist. His experience combining herbal medicine and acupuncture has informed his approach to supporting people with chronic illness, persistent pain, and musculoskeletal conditions.
Although he no longer offers in-person acupuncture treatments at Napiers, Thanos continues to provide herbal medicine consultations remotely, allowing patients to access his expertise wherever they are based.

"I had my first acupuncture treatment with Thanos yesterday, after I hurt my neck in a concert a few days ago and I was in a lot of pain. I couldn't move my head downwards at all as the pain was agonising. Thanos explained that putting needles directly in my neck could aggravate the pain and inflammation. Hence he put some needles in the side of my hand and asked me to slowly try to move my head. Literally minute by minute I was able to do more movements with less pain! By the end of the treatment the neck pain eased up and I was able to move normally again! I finally managed to get good night's sleep last night and this morning I'm completely pain free! "Thanos is a wonderful practitioner; a kind, compassionate and helpful therapist. Having provided very effective help to a close relative of mine (with another type of therapy and not acupuncture), I consulted Thanos. I had undergone very sudden, unexpected major spinal surgery and although I had made a good recovery, I was left with a lot of nerve damage which resulted in pain in my arm and left hand, tingling and stiffness, particularly in both legs which affected my mobility. Very shortly I shall embark upon my fourth session of acupuncture therapy. Surprisingly it was not painful (perhaps because of a skilled practitioner) but Thanos has achieved wonderful results. The stiffness in my legs is less severe but the somewhat debilitating pain in my left hand has greatly improved and is much more copeable with. We continue with the treatment. When I started with Thanos, if the pain level in my hand was 10, I now have a residual pain level of 1.5 which is confined to a smaller area. "Six years ago I was diagnosed with a spine which is degenerating. The result was painful spinal arthritis with weekly back muscle spasms. Decided to have acupuncture upon the advice of a friend. For several weeks before the treatment, the spasms had rocketed to 50-60 per week. Over the months since the treatment started, the amount has gone down to 4-5 a week. In recent months I had 2 separate weeks with no spasms at all. Also, the amount of painkillers I take for the pain has come down around 30% per week.
