Reflexology

Reflexology is said to have originated in China 5,000 years ago, when pressure therapies were used to correct energy fields in the body. It works on the basis that there are zones in the hands and feet associated with various glands, organs and regions of the body.

It uses the application of pressure to treat the whole body through a series of 'reflex points'. This encourages the flow of natural energy (chi) to help the body heal itself. Every aspect of our physical body is mirrored in the feet, thus allowing a complete body treatment.

Reflexology can help in the management of stress-related ailments including migraine, PMS, irritable bowel syndrome, insomnia and lethargy, as well as promoting a sense of calm and well-being.

Maternity Reflexology

Maternity Reflexology can help support expectant mothers deal with minor ailments associated with pregnancy, balance hormonal changes and may help to induce labour at full term.

Some techniques may be useful in helping to turn breech babies and once the baby is here may help to calm them and aid conditions such as colic.

These techniques can be taught to parents to promote the bonding experience. Additionally, people who have fertility issues may also benefit from reflexology.
