I began my shiatsu journey in 1989 at the Glasgow School of Shiatsu. Following a post graduate at the Shiatsu College of Norwich, I have been fortunate to study advanced techniques with many inspiring and internationally respected teachers, most notably Clifford Andrews and Pauline Sasaki.

For over 20 years I was a permanent member of the teaching team at the Glasgow School of Shiatsu. Here, and at other UK shiatsu schools, I have taught on all levels of the 3year diploma course and organised a variety of workshops. In 2016 I published, with my colleague and friend Elaine Liechti, a student handbook A Guidebook to the Extended Meridians of Zen Shiatsu.

Currently I assess students eligibility to become Members of the Register of the Shiatsu Society (MRSS). The Shiatsu Society is our UK association, and it works to maintain the highest standards of practice, ratifies shiatsu schools and promotes research. Shiatsu is endlessly fascinating and it’s simple, yet profound wisdom immensely helpful.

A recent cross-European study carried out by the European Shiatsu Federation and Leeds University found that 85-89% of receivers felt that shiatsu had effectively treated their symptoms – particularly muscle & joint pain and stiffness, stress and tension, fatigue and insomnia.

Deeply relaxing and energising, the same study found that 94% of receivers felt calmer and more relaxed after (read the BioMed Central article on this study here https://tinyurl.com/64kjc5p8).

Reiki came into my life in 1991 and I received the final teaching level (also known as “masters”) in 2008 and Angelic Reiki in 2019. Since then I have facilitated one-to-one trainings, as well as treatments.
I marvel at the effects of this source of strength and peace as it has flowed for me personally and for my clients.

I qualified with a diploma in Analytical Hypnotherapy in 2014, however now favour using EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), in which I completed my training in 2017. Clients who work with EFT consistently report long lasting results. There is a growing body of evidence supporting its effectiveness for a range of psychological and physiological conditions.

I am also informed by my mindfulness practice, four years studying the Alexander technique and over 40 years practising various styles of yoga.
