Kinetic Chain Release

Kinetic Chain Release (KCR) is a simple yet effective technique that aims to improve the function of the body's joints and muscles. It is based on the idea that the body is made up of a series of interrelated systems, and that by addressing imbalances in one system, we can help to restore balance to the whole body.

The technique involves a series of gentle exercises and stretches that are designed to release tension in the muscles and joints, and to improve range of motion and flexibility. These exercises are performed in a specific sequence, and are tailored to the individual needs of each person.

KCR is a non-invasive, drug-free approach to improving health and well-being. It can be used to address a wide range of conditions, including back pain, neck pain, joint pain, headaches, and fatigue. It can also be helpful for improving sports performance and preventing injuries.

One of the key benefits of KCR is that it can produce rapid results. Many people report feeling more relaxed and comfortable immediately after a session, and improvements in range of motion and flexibility can often be felt within just a few minutes.

Another benefit of KCR is that it is safe and gentle. The exercises and stretches used in KCR are designed to be easy on the body, and can be adapted to suit people of all ages and fitness levels. This makes it a great option for people who are looking for a low-impact, low-risk approach to improving their health and well-being.

If you are interested in trying KCR for yourself, it is important to find a qualified practitioner who can guide you through the process. They will be able to assess your individual needs and develop a treatment plan that is tailored to your specific goals and requirements.

Overall, KCR is a simple, safe, and effective technique that can help to improve the function of the body's joints and muscles, and to enhance overall health and well-being.

The Dr Hauschka One Hour Facial

The Dr Hauschka One Hour Facial

with a Napiers Aesthetician

Napiers Edinburgh Clinic is one of the very few establishments in Scotland to offer the Dr Hauschka One Hour Facial. Our aestheticians are fully trained in this indulgent and exceptionally relaxing treatment which, as the name suggests, takes one hour and so can be easily fitted into your day.

The Background

The Dr Hauschka brand is ethically produced, holistic and incredibly effective at nurturing and cultivating great skin. Without spending a penny on endorsements, Dr Hauschka is the favourite of many A-listers including Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston, Katie Holmes and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Dr Hauschka uses Anthroposophical medicine as its base. This is a system of medicine that was developed by Rudolf Steiner and Ita Wegman in the 1920s. It extends the standard anatomical understanding that underlies modern medicine with a classification of the life processes that occur in us: body, soul and spirit. By understanding the growth and formative processes that flow through our physical bodies it is possible to gain a complete and holistic picture of the human being.

Dr.Hauschka products are created out of this deep anthroposophical understanding of nature and the Human Being. They are made by a company that has a 100% commitment to quality with no shareholders to compromise that commitment.

Caring for your skin

Dr.Hauschka Skin Care preparations and facial treatment methods are specifically formulated to restore beauty by working with the skin to support its own natural processes of renewal. Dr. Hauschka Cleansing is the foundation for their approach to skin care. The exfoliating cleanser and balancing toner can quickly transform the condition of your skin while preparing it for moisturizers and masks.

The biodynamic, organic and wild-crafted ingredients in Dr.Hauschka Face Care products are chosen to promote natural, gentle transformation. Each product in our face care line is formulated to work in harmony with your skin's natural functions to restore balance so it looks and feels vital and radiant.

  • Dr Hauschka products are certified natural, containing the highest-quality plant and mineral ingredients
  • Every ingredient is carefully chosen based on its individual effects on the skin, as well as the way it interacts with other ingredients
  • Every plant’s origin is carefully researched, making sure it comes from an ecologically and ethically sound source
  • Dr Hauschka carefully design and manufacture their packaging so that it enables products to be kept free of artificial preservatives

The Treatment

The stresses of the day melt away in warmth and pampering. Relaxing under the rhythmic-breathing touch and flowing movements of the aesthetician's hands leaves you feeling the focus of special attention.

The treatment begins with a sage, lemongrass or lavender foot bath during the consultation stage followed by a foot massage to begin the treatment. Then it moves into the pre-cleanse stage followed by warm muslin compressing which then takes you into the deep cleanse. A face mask is tailored to the individual needs of your skin and, once applied, your aesthetician will give you a hand massage. Then it moves on to facial massage to stimulate the lymph and enhance relaxation. The treatment finishes off with toning and moisturising. The Dr.Hauschka Treatment leads to deep relaxation and leaves you with a feeling of complete wellbeing, of light, lightness and inner balance. And great skin.

The Dr Hauschka One Hour Facial costs £68.

WAXING

Our therapist specialises in hot waxing which is commonly known as ‘intimate waxing’. Hot waxing means that the wax is thicker than the strip wax and therefore requires a higher melting temperature. It is advised for use on more terminal/coarse hairs ie: eyebrows, excess lip hairs, underarms or anywhere in the bikini region. It is a more comfortable form of removal, as the wax only adheres to the hairs, leaving the skin less traumatised, red and irritated after removal. If you’ve never tried it before it is an absolute must!

Below is a list of additional therapies offered at Napiers Beauty Therapy Edinburgh.

EYELASH TINTING & EYEBROW SHAPING AND THREADING

At Napiers Beauty Therapy, we offer eyelash tinting and eyebrow shaping. Tinting can be used as an alternative to wearing mascara. It is waterproof and semi-permanent lasting up to 6 weeks. For a full list of treatments, please click here.

Western Medical Acupuncture

Dry Needling & Western Medical Acupuncture

Dry needling is similar to acupuncture in that it uses needles to penetrate the skin. Typically, Dry Needling has beneficial effects on pain and healing and the primary reason for applying dry needling is to release muscle trigger points.

Western Medical Acupuncture is an adaptation of Traditional Chinese acupuncture (used within Traditional Chinese Medicine) using current knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology.

Western Medical Acupuncture has evolved as the evidence for the use of TCM acupuncture grows however, the differences in the way that the Western Medical world views the body in comparison to Eastern methods, makes it difficult for Western doctors to reconcile the two modalities.

Dry Needling and Western Medical Acupuncture are add-on training courses for Healthcare Practitioners who already have a qualification in anatomy and physiology. For example doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, sports therapists, dentists and midwives.

Online or Telephone Consultations with a Qualified Herbalist

We believe that wherever possible you should see a qualified medical herbalist for a face to face consultation. Distance consultations are not always appropriate for some health conditions and you will get a far better assessment from a consultation. If you can visit a Napiers clinic please book directly with the clinic nearest you.

However, we do realise that not everyone has access to a herbalist. The most common reasons are lack of geographic access, mobility problems, etc. and we do offer online or telephone consultations with our qualified medical herbalists where appropriate.

THE OPTIONS:

NEW PATIENTS: Firstly we suggest emailing advice@napiers.net outlining what you would like support with and so we can initially assess whether your condition can be treated in long distance, and whether both you and the medical herbalist are comfortable with this method of communication. A full initial consultation can take place either by telephone (UK only) or online for example: by Skype, FaceTime, WhatsApp and normally last approximately 45 - 60 minutes. Consultation fees vary dependent on practitioner and type of appointment required.

We do reserve the right not to offer a distance consultation if we do not believe that this is right for you and that your condition can only be treated successfully in person.

For short enquiries about common conditions you can just email our helpdesk. Please note that we are limited with the advice we can safely give outwith the parameters of a full consultation with a qualified Herbalist.

REPEAT CONSULTATIONS: Suitable once your medicine has been sent out and you have been taking it as directed. Usually takes place between 4 - 6 few weeks after the initial consultation.

Repeat consultations can be booked online directly with the relevant clinic, depending on where you or your practitioner are based. Please follow the appropriate link provided to book.

Swedish Massage

The term "Swedish Massage" refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed aid relaxation of the muscles by applying pressure to them and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart.

The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Swedish massage may help recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. Podiatry / Chiropody

Podiatry / Chiropody

Podiatry/Chiropody or Podiatric Medicine is a branch of medicine devoted to the study, diagnosis, pathology and medical treatment of the foot and ankle.

Treatment involves a 30 minute appointment, where all new clients will receive a thorough examination, involving a full medical history as well as a look at types of shoe wear, quality and range of motion of the foot and circulation. This is then followed by the physical treatment required at that time. With bio-mechanics, nail surgery and sports injuries a longer appointment of up to 60 minutes may be required. Guidance in the correct shoe wear, orthotics and foot care is always available.

Emergency appointments are available along with a brand new nail cutting only service and diabetic checks.

Pregnancy brings other types of podiatric/chiropodic problems and mums to be may find that their feet are painful due to weight gain and inevitable changes in their body due to hormones. Podiatry can offer relief for this in the form of temporary orthotics, callus removal and routine foot care.

An orthosis, is a device or support, especially for the foot, used to relieve or correct an orthopedic problem.
