Podiatry / Chiropody

Podiatry/Chiropody or Podiatric Medicine is a branch of medicine devoted to the study, diagnosis, pathology and medical treatment of the foot and ankle.

Treatment involves a 30 minute appointment, where all new clients will receive a thorough examination, involving a full medical history as well as a look at types of shoe wear, quality and range of motion of the foot and circulation. This is then followed by the physical treatment required at that time. With bio-mechanics, nail surgery and sports injuries a longer appointment of up to 60 minutes may be required. Guidance in the correct shoe wear, orthotics and foot care is always available.

Emergency appointments are available along with a brand new nail cutting only service and diabetic checks.

Pregnancy brings other types of podiatric/chiropodic problems and mums to be may find that their feet are painful due to weight gain and inevitable changes in their body due to hormones. Podiatry can offer relief for this in the form of temporary orthotics, callus removal and routine foot care.

An orthosis, is a device or support, especially for the foot, used to relieve or correct an orthopedic problem.
