Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a form of traditional Chinese medicine that involves the insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body, called acupoints. The practice is based on the belief that the body has a natural energy, called Qi (pronounced "chee"), that flows through channels called meridians. When the flow of Qi is disrupted, illness or pain can occur. Acupuncture aims to restore the balance of Qi and promote healing by stimulating specific acupoints on the body.
Practitioners of acupuncture are trained to insert needles at precise locations on the body and may use heat, gentle electrical stimulation, or other techniques to enhance the effects of the needles. Acupuncture is used to treat a wide range of conditions, such as chronic pain, headaches, infertility, and nausea. Some practitioners also use acupuncture to support overall wellness and prevent illness.
