MycoNutri ORGANIC Shitake

Lentinula edodes

Shiitake – Xiang Gu - Pyogo beosut - Nấm hương

MycoNutri Organic Shiitake is a professional concentrated hot-water extract and mycelial biomass combination containing 15% beta-glucans together with proteoglycans, arabinoxylans and secondary metabolites.

Traditional hot-water extraction provides high levels of the immune-modulating beta-glucans and related polysaccharides, while the mycelial biomass contains the full spectrum of active metabolites from the mycelium and young fruiting body of the mushroom, including other beta-glucans and extra-cellular polysaccharides, phytosterols (including ergosterol (provitamin D2), proteins, lipids and arabinoxylans.

Use

Shiitake is the second most widely cultivated mushroom, after the common button mushroom. It combines an excellent nutritional profile and exceptional culinary properties with significant health benefits and is the source of Lentinan, a polysaccharide extract.

Like other mushrooms, fresh Shiitake can be a useful source of vitamin D2, providing it is exposed to sunlight or UV light either before or after harvesting.

Although traditionally used principally as a culinary mushroom, Shiitake’s health properties have been extensively researched in Japan since the 1960s.

Ingredients

500mg vegetarian capsules

Lentinula edodes (Shiitake) mycelial biomass supplemented with concentrated L. edodes hot-water extract – minimum 30% polysaccharides (beta-glucans / proteoglycans).

All MycoNutri products are suitable for vegetarians and vegans (capsules are of plant origin). No additives are used and the products are dairy, gluten, maize and soya-free. Organically certified by The Soil Association.

MycoNutri products are manufactured in the U.K. to EC food standards. The mycelial biomass used is grown in the USA on sterile grain-based substrate and is optimized to maximise substrate conversion and production of secondary metabolites such as eritadenine.

The biomass contains the full spectrum of active metabolites from the mycelium and young fruiting body of the mushroom, including beta-glucans, other intra- and extra-cellular polysaccharides, phytosterols (including ergosterol – provitamin D2), proteoglycans, proteins and lipids. We then blend it with a hot-water extract containing high levels of polysaccharides to reinforce its health-promoting properties with the combined product having a minimum of 30% polysaccharides.

Drug Interactions

Herbal remedies and supplements can interact with some medicines. If you are taking medication please check with us, or your healthcare practitioner, before taking supplements and medication together.

Because eritadenine’s cholesterol lowering action differs from that of prescription statins, or natural sources of statins such as Red Yeast Rice (Monascus purpureus), Shiitake is often used as a dietary supplement for those already taking statins or for whom they are unsuitable due to the level of side-effects.

If you are already taking statin medication and wish to lower your intake please speak to your healthcare practitioner.
