As a BANT Registered Nutritionist, certified NLP practitioner and functional medicine coach, Nigel provides personalised diet and lifestyle advice.  He also offers the Firstbeat Lifestyle Assessment. Nigel has a passion for working with mental health, mood disorders, and chronic conditions, using a non-medical, nutritional approach. He also has a keen interest in improving athletic performance.

After many years working in construction and project management, Nigel decided upon a career change to follow his passion for nutrition and wellness. He studied at BCNH College of Nutrition and Health and at the University of Greenwich for four years, and then at CNELM (Centre for Nutrition Education and Lifestyle Management). He always engages in further professional development and is currently studying with the Institute of Functional Medicine (USA) and with the Centre for Integrative Sports Nutrition. Nigel has taken extensive continued educational training in numerous areas, including the interpretation of epigenetics and genetic polymorphisms and how these may influence health conditions and symptoms.

Nigel is passionate about helping you feel better, have more energy, and increase your capacity for life's challenges (physical, mental, immunological etc.). He seeks to address your current health challenges in a sustainable way, creating the foundation for long-term benefits. He believes that there is an inextricable link between mind and body, and he brings a holistic/integrative approach to this through nutritional therapy. This can address concerns such as:

  • mood disorders
  • low energy or fatigue
  • poor motivation
  • poor focus or brain fog
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • stress
  • low sex drive
  • sleep issues
  • appetite changes
  • food sensitivities
  • digestive problems
  • chronic fatigue
  • sports performance

Nutritional therapy is an integral part of functional medicine, which aims to find the root causes of your health problems. Dysfunction of our body systems often contributes to what we are experiencing, particularly with chronic symptoms. Nigel will investigate these root causes with you and put the puzzle pieces together from your symptoms, a thorough health history, and interpretation of any functional testing/genetics reports. He also offers a health assessment utilising a comprehensive blood test and can incorporate a lifestyle assessment using the Firstbeat assessment.

  • Optional free 30-minute discovery call
  • Complete health questionnaire and 3-day food diary
  • First session (90 minutes) – history taking and establishing goals. Initial diet and/or lifestyle advice.
  • Follow up session (45 mins, in 1-2 weeks) - develop recommendations including possible functional testing and/or supplements. Focus on next steps.
  • Fortnightly 30 min sessions: further updates and next steps, including feedback on tests, with an email check-in on alternate weeks.

Nigel will work with you at a pace that is manageable for you. His preferred approach is to work together for 3 months or more, as this provides a more successful outcome for clients in the longer term. However, sometimes people just may want a nudge in the right direction, with more limited advice and support, and Nigel is happy to do this too.

Being an integrative, complementary therapy, nutritional therapy, and functional medicine can work well alongside other complementary therapies as well as conventional medicine. Nigel is happy to work in collaboration with others, with your agreement, for your overall benefit and support.

I had been in the fashion industry for 20+ years and always felt there was a deeper and more meaningful aspect to life. This prompted me to embark on learning and understanding about nutrition and the effects that it has on the mind, body and spirit. The stresses of modern life, which I experienced in my previous role, have motivated me to support people holistically through naturopathy and nutrition. I am passionate about helping people take control of their health and wellbeing.

Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of optimal health. It identifies nutritional and biochemical imbalances in the body that lead to ill health. Nutrition and lifestyle approaches to healthcare have been shown to support the health of all the major systems of the body. Typical priorities in nutritional therapy consultations include support to achieve optimum energy levels and gastrointestinal health, maintaining a healthy blood sugar balance, supporting emotional and psychological wellbeing, and better understanding tolerance levels to a broad range of food groups.

Nutritional Therapy is recognised as a complementary medicine and is suitable for individuals with chronic conditions, as well as those looking for support to enhance their health and overall wellbeing.

Nutritional Therapy can support with a wide range of health concerns, including:

  • Digestive issues
  • Food sensitivities (allergies and intolerances)
  • Hormonal imbalances (including female specific issues, PMS)
  • Stress management (including sleep disorders)
  • Mood fluctuations
  • Lack of energy
  • Immune dysfunction
  • Skin complaints
  • Healthy ageing

Michaella has a special interest in chronic pain and fatigue conditions, autoimmunity and female health.

Initial consultations are up to 90 minutes during which Michaella will take a detailed medical history and discuss your reason for attending the clinic and health concerns. She will then provide you with the following;

  • Detailed diet plan relevant to your health requirements
  • Recipes
  • Supplement recommendations (where appropriate)
  • Referrals to other practitioners (where appropriate)
  • Discussion of testing e.g. blood testing (where appropriate)

Follow up appointments are generally 4 weeks after the initial assessment. You may benefit from multiple follow up appointments depending on your personal circumstances. All patients’ programmes are unique and Michaella will discuss follow up appointments with you in your initial consultations.

Michaella offers a free 15 minute introductory consultation prior to your first booking. You can contact Michaella directly by emailing or call her on 07786 841 333

Typically 1-3 appointments are appropriate to allow progress to be monitored. Recommended changes can be made gradually or all at once; you set the pace.
