Lic Ac MBAcC

Alan is a fully qualified Five Element Acupuncturist and has been practising this wonderful system of medicine at Napiers Clinic in the West End of Glasgow for the past 18 years.

He has successfully helped patients with arthritis, back pain, stress, infertility, gynaecological problems, allergies, headaches/migraine, sports injuries, and digestive problems.

Alan trained at the College of Traditional Acupuncture in Leamington Spa founded by the late J. R. Worsley(1923-2003) credited with bringing Five Element Acupuncture to the West. He was a faculty member of the College of Traditional Acupuncture (Glasgow) in 1998. He is a member of the British Acupuncture Council (MBAcC) and the Acupuncture Fertility Network (AFN), and for the past 5 years has been an associate of the Natural Fertility Centre (NFC) Edinburgh helping hundreds of couple with their fertility problems.

Alan has now become one of Scotland’s leading experts on Traditional Five Element Acupuncture and fertility.

What makes this ancient system of medicine so uniquely suited to modern life is that physical, emotional and mental aspects are seen as interdependent, and this reflects what many people perceive as the connection between the different aspects of their lives.

The focus of my acupuncture treatment is on the individual, not their illness, and all their symptoms are seen in relation to each other. Each patient is unique and two people with the same western medicine diagnosis may well receive different acupuncture treatment.

Xing-Hui Liang trained as a traditional Chinese medical doctor at the Zhejiang Traditional Chinese Medical University in China for five years and qualified with a Bachelor of Medicine (MB) degree from the university in 1983.

She worked as a traditional Chinese medical doctor in Chinese Medical Hospitals in China before working as an acupuncturist and Chinese herbal medicine doctor in Edinburgh from 1991. She has been practising at Napiers Clinic since 1993 and is a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC).

Xing-Hui Liang has established her reputation in helping patients with the management of a wide range of complaints with acupuncture and traditional Chinese herbal medicine.

These include:

  • Conditions associated with women’s health such as menopausal symptoms and endometriosis, period pain and irregular periods, assisting IVF and fertility
  • Chronic pain including migraines, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, and sciatica
  • Skin ailments such as eczema, acne, psoriasis
  • Problems associated with allergy, stress related illness, irritable bowel syndrome and general well-being

If you have not had acupuncture before then it is natural to feel slightly apprehensive but many people say that they find the sensation quite pleasant. Some say that they experience a dullness or tingling around the site of the needle but soon this settles down and a state of deep relaxation can be achieved.

Xing-Hui Liang's in-depth knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine and her extensive experience have allowed her to successfully help manage and relieve patients’ suffering.
