Infectious Diseases Consultant


Dr Jack Lambert is an Infectious Diseases Consultant at the MMUH and Professor at UCD School of Medicine in Dublin with over 25 years’ experience working in HIV, Hepatitis C, STI, and other disease areas.

Trained in the USA and the UK, he worked for 6 years in Baltimore at the Johns Hopkins Institutes and the University Of Maryland Institute Of Human Virology, where he developed skills in vaccinology, HIV, and International Health. Jack holds consultant specialty certifications in adult and pediatric infectious diseases, general medicine and paediatrics, and in sexual health. As lead of the National Isolation Unit of Ireland from 2010-2018, he has managed all emerging infections, including Ireland's Ebola effort and has taken a clinical lead at the MMUH on the management of COVID-19. Jack has also led HepCare Europe, a 1.8 million euro project aiming at improving the elimination of HCV in the European Union.

Jack currently has an Irish HRB grant looking at Long COVID and runs a Long COVID clinic in Dublin. He will be heading up the Long COVID Clinic at Napiers Clinic from the end of January 2022.

He has set up the Lyme Resource Centre, a Charity established in 2019 to support the Scottish effort at tackling Lyme and Co infections. Jack is widely published, with over 10 book chapters, and 240 peer reviewed publications, of which 10 are focused on COVID and its complications.
