Ben is not currently practising at a Napiers clinic

Ben is a qualified Medical Herbalist and Nutritionist. He has gained a lot of experience working with digestive ailments such as reflux, constipation, IBS and inflammatory bowel disorders (Crohn’s disease, Colitis etc).

Ben is also experienced in providing support and care with various men’s health issues, especially those associated with later life.

Ben’s Story

Ben was instilled with the benefits of natural remedies, from very early in his childhood. Ben’s parents would give him Vitamin C tablets, instead of sweets, for school and was treated with garlic capsules and honey with cider vinegar whenever he caught a cold. Suffice to say, the cold didn’t stand a chance! As such Ben had a healthy childhood which he attributes to the remedies he is so passionate about.

Ben then took a large interest in Herbal medicine in his early teens, even going so far as to tending his very own herb garden. This was when he bought his first Herbal medicine book by Culpepper. He used these early books to treat himself and his parents when they became ill, from a common cold and flu to skin rashes and chilblains.

After a career in IT, Ben’s passion for Herbal Medicine resurfaced due to some unfortunate life changing events, which lead him to study a Diploma in Nutrition and a Bachelor of science honours degree in Herbal medicine.

He now practices seeing patients from the North West and has a special interest in digestive ailments and men’s health.

Approach to Treatment

Ben looks at the whole-person, providing a holistic approach to therapy. He has a firm belief that health comes from within and uses a combination of herbs, lifestyle and diet changes to encourage the body’s own healing abilities.

Each treatment plan is tailored to the individual and may also include herbal infusions, creams and supplements. Both traditional and evidence based principles are used. Herbal medicine can work well alongside orthodox medicine and has few side-effects, providing they are taken correctly and under proper supervision from a qualified herbal medicine practitioner.

Herbal medicine may be used for symptomatic relief as well as the management of chronic or long-term conditions, such as:

  • Asthma, eczema & hay fever
  • General fatigue or being run-down
  • Irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disorders
  • Menstrual cycle abnormalities & cystitis
  • Skin conditions, rashes & psoriasis
  • Arthritis or joint/muscle aches and pains

As a member of The National Institute of Medical Herbalists (NIMH), there is strict adherence to standards and values. This ensures continual professional development, whilst also protecting you, the patient.
